About Richgail Enriquez
Richgail is a proud Cavitena-born and raised in the province of Bacoor Cavite, Philippines, and moved to the US when she was 15 years old.
After taking a degree in Broadcast Journalism, she worked as a news correspondent for the network, ABS-CBN The Filipino Channel, on a half-hour newscast called “Balitang America” that aired worldwide via cable subscription.
In 2007, she moved to Bend, Oregon on a new endeavor as news producer for KTVZ Newschannel 21. The following year, she became one of the first reporters for a hip journalism site, BBN3.com in San Francisco (formerly SanFranciscoIAM)
In her more than five years of Broadcast Journalism, Richgail has performed various roles in the industry: producing, writing, reporting, shooting, and editing. She’s a one-woman-video journalist affable in front and behind the camera. Her VJ tools include a Sony HDV camera (HDR FX1000), Final Cut Pro editing suite, iPad2, and a notebook.
Currently, Richgail works as a video journalist for AOL’s Patch.com (Castro Valley Patch.com, Newark Patch.com, and Union City Patch.com).
Some of her most notable stories include, the 2005 hotel workers’ strike in San Francisco, the controversial debate over California’s Proposition 8, and a profile on a Bay Area activist who helped break the siege of the Gaza Strip in 2008.
Richgail has also earned a spot as a finalist in a national journalism competition, “Project:Report”, by The Pulitzer Center and Youtube. Her story on the Oakland youth was featured on the homepage of CNN.com, and has gone viral and garnered more than 10,000 views along with a string of comments.
During her free time, Richgail supports and participates in a theater organization called Bindlestiff Studio, the epicenter of Pilipino Arts in the Bay Area. In the theater world, she has dabbled into acting, writing, and producing. And when she’s home, Richgail loves to cook and hold potlucks.
